Year: Ox & 5
Month: Ox & 6
This year’s energy will embody learning, patience, introspection, and creativity as we head into a new era.
This year’s Ox is 辛丑 (Xin Chou). 辛 represents Metal Yin (-), which embodies steadiness, patience, certainty, quiet, and introspection. When unbalanced, one may experience energies that resemble something more like growing pains or challenges.
The key to 2021 is building up one’s emotional endurance. Some may think of 2020 when we hear about things that test our emotional strength. Many of us had to face repeated fear, loneliness, concern, anger, etc. Many things that tested our emotional strength and intelligence.
So, if we think of 2020 as the year for the hidden (or the suppressed) working its way to the surface, we also know working through what’s been uncovered requires not only emotional strength, but even more so emotional endurance.
This year, you will find success when you practice patience and control over your emotions instead of allowing yourself to react first. Practice listening to understand, taking time to really process and learn, and then respond.
We will also begin to see or feel a shift in energy this year as we transition to the wind era (from the land era), in preparation for more significant shifts in 2022.
Like all new beginnings, change is not instant. This year may feel like forging a new path through a dense forest. Where progress may feel slower than we’re used to, but once we make it to the clearing at the end of the forest, the potential is energizing.
For example, in the US we are beginning a change in our administration from Trump to Biden. This first year is expected to have hurdles to overcome as a new administration, but once they get their feet under them, they are more likely to gain significant momentum in the years following. Patience, respect, and thoughtfulness on all side will help bring us together and moving forward.
- Practice meditation or other introspective routines (like journaling).
- When considering exercise include mind, breath, and body aligning options like yoga, martial arts, tai chi, etc.
- Observe your emotions, and practice patience both with yourself and others.
When decision making, come from a place of care and compassion instead of obligation (should or should not). If you are leaning towards one way due to your sense of obligation to your faith, or the perception of others, pause. Take a breath and see if you can recenter. Look at the situation from a place of compassion and care for the end result (and those affected by it).
If you find you have workaholic tendencies, now is the time to address finding balance between active/inactive, work/play, etc. Intentionally aiming towards finding harmony between your energy output or work and self-care or energy input and rejuvenation.
